Lemlist vs Instantly (2026): Best Cold Email Tool for Small Teams

Lemlist charges per user and adds LinkedIn, calls and SMS. Instantly charges per plan and is built for email volume. Here's which fits a small team in 2026.

Lemlist bills per user. Instantly doesn’t.

That one difference decides most small-team comparisons before features enter the picture. My read: these are different products wearing similar labels. Pick Lemlist if you need email plus LinkedIn, calls and SMS in one sequence. Pick Instantly if you mainly need to send a lot of email cheaply without burning your domains.

Which tool is actually cheaper for a small team?

For one person, Instantly. Its Growth plan costs $47/month, or $37.60/month billed yearly. Lemlist’s Email plan costs $69/month, or $55/month billed yearly.

The gap widens with every seat. Lemlist charges per user, so three people on the Email plan pay $165/month on yearly billing. One Instantly Growth plan stays at $37.60.

The catch on Instantly is the contact cap. Growth allows 1,000 uploaded contacts and 5,000 emails a month, and the contact limit is usually the first wall teams hit. Lemlist’s Email plan allows 50,000 emails a month per user.

What is Lemlist good for?

Channel breadth. One Lemlist sequence can mix email, LinkedIn steps, calls, SMS and a WhatsApp add-on. A rep can run coordinated outreach without stitching three tools together.

It also works as a prospecting tool. The 650M+ lead database and waterfall enrichment run on credits: $1 buys 20 verified emails or 5 phone numbers. Unused credits roll over while the subscription is active, which helps teams with uneven send weeks.

The Multichannel plan costs $109/user/month, or $87/user/month billed yearly. Enterprise needs at least 5 seats and is priced on request.

What is Instantly good for?

Sending volume without wrecking deliverability. Every plan includes unlimited email accounts and unlimited warmup. Its SISR system (Server and IP Sharding and Rotation) spreads sends across servers and IPs, so one bad day doesn’t burn a domain.

The Hypergrowth plan costs $97/month, or $77.60/month billed yearly, and lifts limits to 25,000 uploaded contacts and 125,000 emails a month. Light Speed costs $358/month, or $286.30/month billed yearly, for 500,000+ emails and 100,000+ uploaded contacts.

Instantly also has a 450M+ B2B lead database with waterfall enrichment across 5+ providers, plus access to several major AI models for writing sequences.

Is there a free option?

Neither tool has a permanent free plan. Lemlist offers a 14-day trial with Multichannel features and 200 free credits. Instantly does not publish a free plan on its pricing page.

Which plan suits a team past 10,000 emails a month?

Instantly’s Growth plan stops at 5,000 emails, so you need Hypergrowth at $97/month. Lemlist’s Email plan already covers 50,000 emails per user. For a solo sender, Lemlist Email at $55/month yearly is cheaper than Instantly Hypergrowth at $77.60. For a team of three, Instantly Hypergrowth is far cheaper than three Lemlist seats.

If your outreach lives in email alone, the deciding number is your headcount. If it includes LinkedIn or calls, only Lemlist does that here.

For the CRM side of the same workflow, see our Pipedrive vs Close comparison for small sales teams. Cold outreach tools are not newsletter tools: if you’re building an opt-in list instead, read Kit vs MailerLite or MailerLite vs Brevo.

The verdict

Choose Instantly if you send email only and more than one person needs access. One plan covers the whole team, and its sending infrastructure is built for volume.

Choose Lemlist if your sequences mix email with LinkedIn or calls, or if you’re a solo sender who needs more than 5,000 emails a month.

Start with Lemlist’s 14-day trial if multichannel matters to you. If it doesn’t, go straight to Instantly Growth.
